The increasing stringent rules in China over Internet might be breaking many rights of human, but the government keeps justifying their action with regards to increasing pornography crimes in Internet. This might be reality or just a way to push forward strong rules and regulations.
Recently, Chinese police have stated that they have brought 5,394 arrests and 4,186 criminal case investigations in 2009 against Internet Pornography. This is a fourfold increase in the number of such cases compared with 2008. As a result, the Internet Police have urged for strong punishment for crimes and better monitoring system to track down the criminals. China has the largest Internet Users as its government see the prolific rise in the freedom a threat it governing philosophy.
This has allowed Chinese Government to bring strict rules against registering domain names and over user generated content. In addition, China has banned a number of popular websites and Internet services, including Google’s Youtube, Twitter, Flickr and Facebook, as well as Chinese content sharing sites.
Many critics see these actions as a human rights violation and condemns China for suppressing creativity and preventing innovations in such field. But as per the governing bodies, China aims to control the random chaos in Internet which could distort their long established social framework, which is the corner stone of Chinese economic growth.
