Delhi Commonwealth Game organizers have logged in to Twitter and Facebook, and are updating the pages to inform followers and fans about the on-going games. This is remarkable step for the social media fans.
Fans are complaining about the efficiency of the page admins saying the pages are not updated regularly. Still something is better than nothing. Hope we get better coverage in Facebook and Twitter ahead, and this sets trend for all other tournaments as well.
Here’s the video coverage from CNN IBN with the details.
India is marching ahead very fast in terms of social media use in sports. Just today, I got the news that IPL season 3 will be streamed live in Youtube.
India is already the nation with second largest population of Tweeters and Diggers after the United States (according to Alexa). It might not take much time for India to become No. 1, if same growth rate continues.

Great step by the Games organisers!! Social Media is the way to go!
A little unfair on CNN IBN’s part to say that the pages are not regularly updated. I sent them a query about the volunteer program and got a prompt reply. I know for a fact that the pages are regularly updated because I check them everyday.
See for yourself and decide.
